Majority African American males are ” sagging,” and it’s become a question of a males image and personality. Sagging has become a trend in the Black community, “…stripped our culture down to the point where we only believe we can become rappers and athletes. We are so much more,” according to a post on Snopes.com
The impression a male gives off while sagging can bring disgust and disappointment. A males pants are made for comfort and room for his private, so “not enough space” should be no excuse. Sagging has become a fashionable trend in the male community, yet it’s not attractive nor appealing.
“Pant’s on the ground, Pants on the ground…Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground.” Those lyrics went viral across America in 2011 after one man wrote a song about his disgust for younger men wearing their pants low. His urging is valid, citing a recent study that sagging pants can actually have very harmful side effects.
Express yourself, be free, your style tells people who you are, first impressions are the best. Although this is all true, no one should be known or accused of anything because of the way they dress, but if a women has on 7 inch heels and a leather black mini skirt, we assume shes a prostitute and same with men. A male has his pants sagging with a belt on we assume he is dangerous.
Areanna Townsend says, “It all comes down to perception. What people perceive is what is reality to them…Something as simple as pulling up your pants and standing with your head high could make the biggest difference in the world’s perception of Black males.”
We just ask that you change the idea of ” the dangerous black male” only because his pants are lower than designed.
To the eye of the beholder, sagging is dangerous and the one who is sagging lives a “thuggish” lifestyle and belongs in the streets. Raise your pants, you raise your image.
